History

Rooted Oaks began as a women’s Bible study at Park West Church in Knoxville, Tennessee, in 2015.  The women met together biweekly and studied Beauty for Ashes, a devotional created and taught by Kerri Sagraves.  The group was no demographic in particular, just hungry women.  Women hungry for more understanding of scripture, deeper insight into who God really is in their lives, and revelation about the way they were seen and loved individually by Jesus.  Over time this small Bible Study grew into something that could not be labeled.  It became women championing other women to see themselves as God saw them.  It was the church of Acts 2 alive and in action.  They found commonalities with women a generation older than them and younger than them.  They began connecting to others around them simply through the love of Jesus and revelation that only comes through the Holy Spirit.  God fanned into flame this little group of women to create and bring to life the broader ministry of Rooted Oaks.

Purpose

Rooted Oaks believes that God loves all people and sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to the earth to be the ultimate sacrifice for sin for all people. This is according to 1 John 4:9-10 and John 3:16-17.  Anyone who believes these scriptures to be truth, asks forgiveness for sin, and asks Jesus to be the Lord and Savior of their lives becomes a child of God.  With this foundation of beliefs in mind, Rooted Oaks exists to connect people to the heart of God.

Vision

The vision of Rooted Oaks is really quite simple.  It is to champion people forward in their journey of better understanding who God is and how He sees them.  Rooted Oaks cheers on and ministers to the “whosoever” as they say yes to Jesus and walk in the purpose or purposes God has created for their lives.

Mission

Rooted Oaks’ mission is to make Bible based devotionals and blogs created by Rooted Oaks Founder, Kerri Sagraves, available to all who seek to better understand identity in God through Jesus Christ and grow in understanding of the Bible.  Rooted Oaks Getaways are available specifically for women to have a ladies’ weekend where time and space is carved out to hear from Jesus through the Holy Spirit.  This weekend connects women to each other and to God through group sessions, personal devotional time, worship, and rest.  Rooted Oaks also has group teaching sessions for Knoxville residents led by Kerri Sagraves and various other Rooted Oaks leaders.
